about me
So I am Sally, a Graphic Designer, based in Taunton, Somerset, originally from Poole in Dorset... and perhaps a little bit crazy - in a good way (apparently)!
Design Bean... weird name for a business you say? Well, Sal Bean was a family nickname of mine since I was a child (I have no idea why, I certainly wasn't a runner bean!) so it seemed the only way to go when coming up with a name for my new business back in 2017... as it was personal.
I have been working for myself since June 2017. It was a massive leap jumping from the security of a salary to self employment but when so many people encourage you, you run out of reasons not to... and I have honestly never looked back!
my background
Well, here goes... I gained my BA (Hons) Degree in Graphic Design in 2002 at Solent University and completed a years Foundation Diploma at Bournemouth Arts University prior to that. I then worked as a portrait photographer after university, working mainly with babies and young children - yikes, that was fun!!
Prior to setting up Design Bean, I worked for a design and print company in Dorset for 9 years, working with companies large and small, predominantly in the hotel industry, from smaller boutique hotels to large international chains. So with nearly 20 years experience in the design and print game (man, I am old!) , I'm confident you're in safe hands!
